After living almost 3 months and spending most of the time as
pedestrian I find dangerous walking with my little two kids to the
nursery as the city doesn't have zebra crossing on the streets.
Anywhere you go is the same: just some ramps at the corners but not
signs advising cars nor zebra crossing for pedestrians.
Actually, I had to face couple of situations where some insane people made sounding the horn whilst crossing a very calm street or even nearby a nursery. That's unacceptable.
Everybody should feel comfortable and safe walking in the city, as we all are first pedestrians. Even more, to have the courtesy "at least" to give the way when there's children but it doesn't happen. Neither with elder people or parents with kids in school zones.
Having planning and urban mobility degree, this issue should be
a priority number 1 to the city council to correct it at the
earliest. I, therefore, request that the Council considers
installation of Zebra Crossings at the following locations: along
Westfield Road, Atherstone Ave, Gresley Way and Hartwell
Way.
