Agenda and minutes

Apologies for absence were received from Councillor N Sanders, John Nolan, J Oliver and Dawn Sadler.

Councillors Gilbert and Caborn had resigned from the committee and Councillors Burke and Mrs Gray had been appointed.

WE AGREED as an accurate record the minutes of our meeting held on 20 November 2002.

In accordance with Standing Orders we agreed that the remainder of the meeting would contain exempt information as defined by paragraph 11 of Part 1 of Schedule 12A of the Local Government Act 1972 and the press and public would be excluded.

IT WAS RECOMMENDED that the Working Arrangements Agreement be agreed by the Employment Committee with effect from 1 April 2003.  It was noted that a further report on weekend working would be subject to discussion in due course.

The Legal and Human Resources departments had produced the report on TUPE and the Trade Unions had sought legal advice on the complexities of the document.  No adverse comments had been received from the GMB & UNISON but nothing had been received from the T&G.  Members welcomed the report and noted the addition of the employees appeal rights.

IT WAS RECOMMENDED that the TUPE Protocols be agreed by the Employment Committee with effect from 1 May 2003 subject to any minor amendments being delegated to Officers and copies sent to Members for information.
