Purpose:
The Cabinet Member:
1. Authorised grant funding to the wraparound childcare providers detailed in paragraph 3.9 of this report.
2. Delegated authority to the Director for Education to authorise funding to other wraparound childcare providers not currently included in para 3.9.
Reasons for the decision:
Approval of the funding will ensure that the Council will support the development of wraparound care and enable parents to take up employment opportunities.
Alternative options considered:
Whilst an alternative option would be not to support the development of the national wraparound programme, this is an opportunity to develop good quality wraparound services, that will not only support children before and after school, it will also provide opportunity for parents to access employment, potentially enhancing growth in the city.
