Decision details

The Cabinet Member authorised the award of contract to the Alzheimer’s Society for the delivery of Peterborough’s Dementia Resource Centre, due to commence on 1 April 2021.  This contract will be for a period of 2 years, with 2 optional 1 year extension periods.

The contract price shall be £558,000, for the 2 year contract period from 1 April 2021 to 31 March 2023, and the cost of each year of extension shall be £279,000.

Alzheimer’s Society reached the quality threshold with a final moderated score of 80% and were within the pricing envelope.

The tender submitted by Alzheimer’s Society met all the required elements of the specification and provided strong evidence of capability and outlined a proven track record. Some of the key benefits highlighted from the delivery model submitted by Alzheimer’s Society include:

·         Increased accessibility and reach of service delivery

·         Enhanced outcome focused objectives and performance recording

·         Increased capacity for supporting service users and their carers and families

Alternative options considered:

1)    Aligned reprocurement with the CCGwas reviewed at the beginning of the procurement process. Due to Covid pressures a joint procurement was not possible at this time but will be explored for future commissioning or enacted as part of any additional contract terms.

2)    Cut funding completely and stop the specialist Dementia support service delivered through the DRC.  Rejected - Due to the adverse impact on the provision of this support and escalation of service user crisis and preventing carer breakdown, impacting on more costly services.
