The Cabinet Member:

1.    Authorised the issue of the following work package to Skanska Construction UK Limited under the Council’s existing Peterborough Highway Services Contract;

·         Recommendation to approve the A605 Oundle Road improvements programme KEY/11JUN18/03. The total budget is £2.293m.

·         Below is a breakdown of costs to date and future forecast .

The Council was contacted by a number of individuals and organisations expressing concern about the congestion along this route and the safety implications of having stationary traffic on the A1. A technical assessment was undertaken and an improvement scheme has been designed. The Council has the budget in place to complete this scheme and the scheme is in the Cambridgeshire and Peterborough Combined Authority’s Interim Local Transport Plan and its emerging draft Local Transport Plan.

Not to deliver a programme of works: This has been discounted because congestion will continue to exist along this route in the AM peak and it is having a negative effect on the Lynch Wood Business Park.

To deliver an alternative scheme. The additional eastbound lane was selected as the best option following the outcome of a technical feasibility study which modelled the traffic flows and assessed a number of alternative options. The public have been consulted and a number of their recommendations have been included in the final design.
