Decision details

National Child Measurement Programme Contract - delegation of function to Cambridgeshire County Council - SEP19/CMDN/33

Decision Maker: Deputy Leader and Cabinet Member for Adult Social Care, Health & Public Health

Decision status: Recommendations Approved

Is Key decision?: Yes

Is subject to call in?: Yes

Purpose:

The Cabinet Member:

1. Authorised the delegation of authority to Cambridgeshire County Council (CCC) to act as lead local authority in commissioning the National Child Measurement Programme across Peterborough and Cambridgeshire and for delivery of the function of the service, which shall include the associated transfer of funding to CCC  from September 1st 2019 until May 31st 2020. CCC shall contract with the Integrated Lifestyle Service provider Everyone Health, the Public Health arm of Sports and Leisure Ltd for the delivery of Peterborough’s National Child Measurement Programme.

Reasons for the decision:

To ensure that children identified as having an unhealthy weight through the NCMP have an improved access to services that help them and their families make healthy lifestyle choices and improve their health outcomes.

The inclusion of the NCMP in the current recommission of integrated lifestyle services across Peterborough City Council and Cambridgeshire County Council will enable efficiencies  to be made.

Alternative options considered:

Continue to include the NCMP in the HCP. This would not allow the development of improved pathways and access to lifestyle services for children and their families.

Do not include NCMP in the current Peterborough City Council and Cambridgeshire County Council re-commissioning of Lifestyle Services. This would mean that the efficiencies of having one service across the two local authority areas could not be realised.

Interests and Nature of Interests Declared:

None.
