Section 256 Agreement For Tier 3 Weight Management Services JUL18/CMDN/13a

Decision Maker: Cabinet Member for Public Health

Decision status: Recommendations Approved

Is Key decision?: No

Is subject to call in?: No

Purpose:

The Cabinet Member approved a Section 256 agreement to enable the Council to commission Tier 3 weight management services on behalf of the Cambridgeshire and Peterborough Clinical Commissioning Group as part of the Integrated Healthy Lifestyles contract operating from 01 April 2017 to 31 March 2022. The Section 256 agreement will enable funding to be transferred from the Cambridgeshire and Peterborough Clinical Commissioning Group to the Council for these services.

Reasons for the decision:

The approval of the Section 256 is recommended as Tier 3 weight management

services are required to meet current needs among local residents.

Alternative options considered:

To not enter into a Section 256 agreement.

This option was dismissed as this would lead to disparate services that would be to the detriment of local residents that require integrated healthy lifestyle support services.

Interests and Nature of Interests Declared:

None.
